"Let me tell you... Since I've moved to Malawi in 2024 life has been a rollercoaster. There’s hardly any bigger contrast than to move from The Netherlands, a flat country where all roads are paved, to this South-Eastern African country with its mountains and a more ‘cowboy style’ of living. I felt the urge of expressing my experiences and observations through art.
To work in my studio is my way of slowing down, of turning what I see into something tangible. I make art by observing what’s around me. Colors, people, fragments of people passing by and nature.
I create to offer space. Space to feel, to let others interpret my art in their own way and space to connect through art.
